Ritz Rail on Tour

Between 1999 and 2002, the Northern Rivers Railroad operated regular passenger services on the branch from Casino to Murwillumbah, in northern New South Wales.

Services took the form of excursions from Murwillumbah to Byron Bay or to Bangalow and Lismore. Morning tea, lunches, and bar service were on offer. Occasional excursions to Brisbane and further afield also took place.
NRR sold its freight services and its seven locomotives to InterRail, Queensland Railways' first interstate venture, in April 2002. The last Ritz Rail train ran in December 2002. The Murwillumbah branch was closed by the NSW Government in May 2004.

This production shows a run from Murwillumbah to Brisbane and an excursion from Brisbane to Loadstone in October 2002. It includes the passage of the Border Spiral.

Filmed October 2002.
